Power and Love

I’m missin’ my grandsons today. Nate and Ryker, we’re coming to see you soon!

Power and Love

Psalms 144

What is more dreadful than evil power? A powerful person or entity that is driven by evil intent is a fearful scenario. I recently watched the 10-part mini-series, Band of Brothers; the story of the 101st Airborne in World War II. I was reminded of the power of Hitler and evil intent and what an ominous period in history it was.

Conversely, what is more comforting and blissful than being protected by lovingkindness that is intertwined with unlimited power? In much greater measure than any evil, God’s strength reigns supreme and his power is girded with lovingkindness.

Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle;

(He is) my lovingkindness and my fortress, My stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and He in whom I take refuge. Verse 1,2

Let the Battle Begin

In my last post, I wrote “Consider that the Evil One is at work fostering evil toward us through people, circumstances and events. It surrounds us.” This is true, but in this fight, we have a secret weapon that dominates the battle and brings ultimate victory every time. David, the Psalmist, states, Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle!

We need His strength. There are many forces (spiritual and natural) allied against us. But none compare to the power of God. And the good news is, the supreme power of God is driven by His lavish lovingkindness. His strength is girded by LOVINGKINDESS.

What is more wonderful than knowing that our God, who possesses infinite strength fortified with love is far stronger than any evil power that existsGod is everything to us but the emphasis in these verses is that God is our Strength. He is strong and Almighty, and we are so blessed because He is strong on our behalf. He directs His strength toward us, for us and on our behalf. His strength directed toward us is for our protection, our keeping, our good, and our behalf.

Dear Father and Lord, all Your attributes are amazing! But when we consider Your strength intertwined together with Your love toward us, well, it is beyond words. With this knowledge, we can say, “You are my fortress, my stronghold, my deliverer, my shield and my refuge. Amen
